Uniforms are worn every school day. If there is an exception, the student and parent will be notified via school newsletter or e-mail.
St. John the Evangelist school uniforms must be purchased from either St. John School Used Uniform Sales or the Flynn and O'Hara Uniform Company.

The optional (summer) uniform may be worn from the beginning of school to mid-October and from May to the end of the year.
The standard (winter) uniform must be worn from mid-October through April unless the principal modifies the regulation and notifies the parents. The standard uniform may be worn year round.
ADDITIONAL DRESS CODE INFORMATION
Hair
Fad or unusual hairstyles are not permitted. Streaking or any coloring of hair is not permitted.
Boys hair should be neat, trimmed, and above the collar. Also for boys, any facial hair should be kept shaved.
Jewelry
Girls with pierced ears may wear one pair of small post or stud earrings in the lower lobe only. Boys are not permitted to wear earrings of any kind.
Only necklaces with religious medals or crosses may be worn.
Watches may be worn. One ring may be worn.
No other jewelry of any kind is permitted.
Makeup
No make-up of any kind may be worn including nail polish.
Shoes
Brown or black school shoes must be worn.
Socks
Hunter green or white crew length or knee-high socks are permitted.
No low cut socks. Socks may not have any design or logo.
Tights
Hunter green or white tights may be worn in winter with the red plaid jumper.
Belts
Boys must wear a belt at all times as part of their uniform.
Girls must wear belts when wearing slacks or shorts.
Sweaters
All middle school students (grades 6-8) must wear the sweater or vest as part of the standard (winter) uniform.
Skirts
Uniform khaki kilts may not be more than 2” above the knee and must be worn with a white oxford button down collar blouse (either short or long sleeved)..
P.E. Class
Students are required to wear the gym uniform on scheduled P.E. days. The green sweatshirt and sweatpants must be worn during during winter (standard) uniform months. Sweatshirt and sweatpants may be worn over the gray T-shirt and green shorts and removed for gym class only. Athletic shoes are required for gym participation.
DRESS UP/DOWN DAYS
Students have the option to dress up or dress down for their birthday at their teacher’s discretion.
Dressing down for your birthday on a mass day is not permitted.

Dress Down Regulations
The following are not permitted: oversized jeans, low cut pants, clothes with holes, T-shirts with inappropriate language or advertising, tank tops, spaghetti straps, cut-offs, and short-shorts.
The inseam of shorts for girls must be 4“ or longer.
Bare midriffs are not allowed.
No excessive jewelry including dog collars, chains, and safety pins are allowed.
No make-up except nail polish is allowed.

Jeans, spaghetti strap tops and tank tops are not considered appropriate for dress up.
