We recognize that supervising the learning process for your children while fulfilling work responsibilities and other obligations is a great challenge. With this in mind, it is our goal to make the eLearning experience as easy and efficient for you and your family as possible. Additionally, we want to strike a balance between ensuring adequate minutes for learning while allowing plenty of unscheduled time for your family during this difficult period. To accomplish this goal, each day we will plan for three hours of instructional time in the core content areas (religion, reading, language arts, math, science & social studies) with the fourth hour reserved for “special subjects” (art, music, P.E., computer, library & Spanish). Fridays will be designated as a “Catch up/Enrichment Day” for students to finish any incomplete work while others may choose from optional learning enrichment that the teachers will be providing. No homework will be assigned over the weekend.
We recommend you follow the Rule of Three! It is understandable and expected that the children will have many questions because they are working with a much higher level of independence than in the past. A good strategy in this regard, and one that will allow your child to take the lead in the learning process, is to encourage them to read through the directions thoroughly. If they have immediate questions, invite them to carefully read the directions a second time. If they are still unsure of what is expected, at that point ask them to present the question to you. This process will help our students to increase their level of personal responsibility and autonomy. Of course, if the instructions are unclear after you have reviewed them, please do not hesitate to reach out to the teacher for more information.
