Mass

The students at St. John the Evangelist attend weekly Mass on Friday mornings at 8:30 a.m. and holy days of obligation. The eighth-grade students assist the kindergarten class by being assigned as Mass Buddies. They attend weekly mass with their kindergarten buddy.

Pastoral Visits

Members of the parish pastoral staff visit the school regularly. This gives each class individual time for lesson enrichment and to ask questions or get clarification on religious topics.

Sacraments

Sacraments are celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic School as part of the religious education process.

Reconciliation

Reconciliation is received in second grade. This sacrament enables a child to confess his or her sins to the priest and attain God’s unconditional forgiveness. In turn, he or she is called to forgive others.

First Communion

The sacrament of First Holy Communion is also received in second grade. The celebration of the First Holy Communion signifies the first time children receive the Body and Blood of Christ.

Confirmation

Confirmation is received during eighth grade and symbolizes a mature person’s commitment to the gifts received at Baptism.
