Dear SJES School Community,

First, thank you for your support, as we have worked diligently together to ensure in-person instruction for our students since the first day of school.

We are aware that Governor Youngkin announced a series of executive orders over the weekend, including future modifications to guidance on masks in schools. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) will also be issuing revised guidance. SJES is evaluating both the order and anticipated VDOE guidance, along with local and state requirements. Because this order does not go into effect until Monday, January 24th, SJES will keep all current mitigation strategies in place when students return to school on Tuesday, January 18th. I will provide our school community with an update about masks and mitigation strategies before Monday, January 24th, after consultation with members of our leadership team and anticipated guidance from the Office of Catholic Schools.

As always, any possible changes to our mitigation strategies will be made thoughtfully. Thank you for your support and partnership as we work together to support our staff, students, and school community.
