School Bulletin, Aug. 28

We hope all students enjoyed being back to school in person and enjoyed getting to meet so many new friends.

As a reminder, Campus Cuisine, Drinks and Ice Cream service start Monday. See our Cafeteria page for more details.

Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle filled with water each day to school as we are not utilizing the water fountains and have them pack an extra face mask in their backpack.

Also, if your child is absent from school for any reason, please email the teacher and the front office. The nurse will then be notified if it is due to illness.

It is time to update your child’s demographic information in Powerschool.  This includes demographic changes, photo, press, audio and electronic media release for minors, custody information, contacts, diocesan waiver, as well as, the acceptable use policy agreement. Some of these updates are a vital part of our crisis plan so please take the time to log into PowerSchool and make the updates online before Monday, August 31st.  For families with multiple children, each child will need to be updated.  Please ensure to click submit after completion of each page.

If you are a current family and have forgotten your login information, please email Lauren Karhoff at lkarhoff@sjesva.org

New families were provided log-in information this week. Please check your child’s backpack for the PowerSchool Parent Portal Log-in instructions.

We continue to plan to be here physically in-person each day. In the event that cannot happen for a class, classes, or the school, the following schedule has been approved by the Office of Catholic Schools.

– Students will participate in live or pre-recorded instruction through Google Classroom.  Spanish and Specials instruction will be completed before 2:55 p.m. on Friday.  Fridays will be a Teacher Work Day and it will be used for students to complete specials classes, possible projects, and remaining assignments.

– Although classes are set for 30 minutes, true instructional delivery is not required for the entirety of the class. Times could be shortened briefly depending on the day, concept, or grade level.

– Our weekly school mass will occur virtually Friday at 8:30 a.m.

– Please note that all assignments in all classes will be graded as if we were physically in the building. Students will be responsible for all work that is assigned in all subject areas.

-Our weekly school mass would occur virtually Fridays at 8:30 a.m.

-These open time frames in the afternoon could include review, tutoring, clarification, community building if needed. Our instructional school day ends at 2:55 p.m.  Please say an extra prayer with me today that our school can physically stay in the building all year and we can begin to safely lift restrictions in the coming weeks/months when it is deemed appropriate by the CDC, local health department, and Catholic Diocese of Arlington. Let us continue to pray, learn, and serve the vulnerable and less fortunate.

Enjoy the weekend!
